Tasmanian Dairy Conference 2010

Tasmanian Dairy Conference a Great Success

Nearly 200 people attended the annual Tasmanian Dairy Conference in Ulverstone on July 7th 2010. The day was a great success with an air of cautious optimism about the year ahead for dairy in Tasmania. There was a diversity of speakers and themes with innovation being the main item on the agenda; innovation around milking, pastures and nutrition. Ian Halliday set the scene giving an overview of Dairy Australia’s main priorities and industry directions. Frank Drum from NAB provided an international perspective in terms of global impacts and outlook. The day also featured a live robotic milking machine operation courtesy of Lely and there were farmer profiles around their operations and the impact of the Taking Stock program. DairyTas Executive Officer Mark Smith commented that the support for the conference day highlighted its importance and value to the industry.
